Early by the lake
Walk along the lakeshore before the day gets hot and busy
The first hours of the day are ideal for a longer walk by the water. Paths and promenades are quieter, surfaces are cooler and there is still plenty of time for a relaxed breakfast back at the campsite.

Visit a designated dog beach and head to the water together
Where dogs are explicitly allowed on the beach and in the water, a lake day becomes much easier. Choose a designated section rather than assuming that the campsite’s normal beach automatically accepts dogs.

Prepare for summer heat
A water bottle, collapsible bowl and shaded resting place are essential in midsummer. Asphalt and stone surfaces can become very hot at midday, so longer walks are best moved to cooler parts of the day.
