Lake Garda offers very different bases for a motorhome trip. Peschiera, Lazise and the major attractions lie in the south; the eastern shore leads towards Bardolino, Malcesine and Monte Baldo, while the western and northern shores feel more mountainous and are shaped by smaller towns. For several nights in one place, a campsite usually offers considerably more infrastructure than a simple overnight motorhome stop.
The important distinction is between transit and a proper holiday stay. For one night, easy access and basic service may be enough. For a week by the lake, pitch size, shade, electricity, fresh water, waste disposal, sanitary facilities and the ability to reach town or the beach without driving become much more important.

What matters
Not every campsite suits every motorhome equally well. Four criteria help narrow the choice.
With a motorhome, your accommodation travels with you. The key is therefore often not the biggest entertainment programme but a pitch from which the lake, cycle routes, towns and day-trip destinations are easy to reach without moving the vehicle every day.
Pitch size, surface, shade and electricity can vary even within one campsite. For larger vehicles, compare the motorhome's length and width with the specifications of the exact pitch category before booking.
For longer stays, fresh water, waste disposal and convenient sanitary facilities matter more than on a one-night stop. Comfort pitches with water or drainage connections can make daily life much easier.
The southern shore works well for Gardaland and Verona. The eastern and northern lake are useful for Monte Baldo and water sports, while the western shore around places such as Toscolano Maderno has a different, often calmer character.

Camping Village Du Parc is our top recommendation for a motorhome holiday because its pitches are explicitly designed for guests arriving with campervans and motorhomes, while the campsite is also very close to Lazise. The large grass-covered pitches have 10- or 16-amp electricity, and selected categories add drinking-water and waste-water connections directly on the pitch. This makes the campsite particularly useful for longer stays when you want to set up once and leave the motorhome parked.
The combination of lakeside and town access is another major advantage. Some pitch areas are only a few metres from the beach, while the operator places Lazise at roughly 500 metres. This makes the promenade, restaurants and town accessible without driving the motorhome every day. Connections vary by pitch category, however, so check the exact category before booking.

Directly on the lake near Peschiera with pitches for campers, some with lake views – a practical base for the southern lake, old town and Gardaland excursions.

The real comfort begins when the motorhome can remain parked after arrival and the holiday starts directly from the pitch.
Morning by the lake
When the pitch is close to the water, the day can start without a plan: open the door, take coffee outside and enjoy Lake Garda before the first excursion.
No parking search
Many lakeside towns and stretches of Lake Garda are easy to explore by bicycle from the campsite, allowing the motorhome to stay parked throughout the day.
Italian evening
A campsite close to a town is especially convenient when you want dinner on the promenade or an evening stroll through the old centre without moving the motorhome again.
Before arrival
Vehicle dimensions and required connections are best clarified before check-in.
Know the length, width and, where relevant, height of your motorhome before booking. Terraced or smaller campsites can have access routes and pitches that are less suitable for very large vehicles.
Electricity is common, but fresh-water and drainage connections directly on the pitch are not automatic. If these matter to you, book a category that explicitly includes them.
At campsites close to Lazise, Peschiera and other lakeside towns, cycling, buses or walking are often easier than driving the motorhome every day. That avoids parking searches and repeated set-up.
Large or particularly well-positioned lakeside pitches can sell out quickly in summer. Owners of larger motorhomes have fewer suitable options than travellers with compact campervans.
Our tip
For a Lake Garda motorhome holiday, location can matter more than the number of facilities. If the beach, town or cycle route is easy to reach and the pitch genuinely fits the vehicle, the motorhome can stay parked for several days – turning the campsite into a comfortable holiday base.
