Camping with a dog on Lake Garda: the details matter

When camping with a dog, it is worth checking the details: not every campsite allows pets in every pitch or rental-accommodation category. Limits, charges and permitted areas can also differ.

For this selection, we only include campsites where dogs are generally allowed. We also consider practical features such as exercise areas, dog showers, access to the lake and walking routes.

Our selection consists of Camping Bergamini in Peschiera, Camping Piantelle and Camping Fontanelle in Moniga, and Camping Park Garda in Limone sul Garda.

Camping Bergamini – Lake Garda campsite near Peschiera del Garda

Peschiera del Garda

Camping Bergamini

A smaller modern campsite directly on the lake near Peschiera. Dogs are welcome on pitches and in accommodation, with a dog shower, dog relaxation area and a dog beach nearby.

  • Dogs allowed
  • Dog shower
  • Dog Relax Zone
  • Dog beach nearby

Why this is our top recommendation

Camping Bergamini is our top recommendation for travelling with a dog because dogs are not merely accepted here: the campsite provides practical facilities specifically for four-legged guests. Dogs are welcome on pitches and in the accommodation types; advance notice and charges may apply depending on the booking.

Facilities include waste-bag dispensers, a dedicated outdoor dog shower and a dog relaxation area next to the pool. According to the operator, an equipped dog beach where dogs can swim is around 150 to 250 metres away. Bergamini is therefore a particularly good choice for travellers looking for a smaller lakeside campsite with practical pet services.

Especially suitable for: Dog owners looking for a smaller lakeside campsite with a clear pet-friendly focus.

Choosing guide

What to check when camping with a dog

“Dogs allowed” is only the starting point. Before booking, check the accommodation rules, access to the water, exercise areas and the campsite’s specific pet conditions.

01

Check that your exact rental unit accepts dogs

Dogs being allowed on pitches does not automatically mean they can stay in every mobile home or bungalow. Always check the exact accommodation category and declare your dog when booking.

02

Distinguish lake access from a dog beach

A campsite directly on the lake does not automatically have a beach where dogs can swim at any time. Check whether there is a designated dog beach and how far away the nearest permitted bathing area is.

03

Shade and exercise matter in summer

Lake Garda can become very hot in summer. A shaded pitch, green areas and suitable walking routes can matter more with a dog than extra leisure facilities. Longer walks are usually more comfortable in the morning and evening.

04

Compare fees and restrictions in advance

Many campsites charge a daily pet fee or place limits on the number, size or accommodation types permitted for dogs. Conditions can change, so check the rules for your exact travel dates before booking.

Out with your dog

Three Lake Garda experiences that work well with a dog

Beyond the campsite, Lake Garda offers plenty of ways to spend time outdoors together, especially during the quieter and cooler parts of the day.

Take your dog to a designated dog beach

A designated dog beach makes hot holiday days much easier. Campsites are particularly convenient when a permitted swimming area is directly outside the site or within a short walk.

Early morning walk with a dog beside calm Lake Garda

Morning walk

Walk along the lakeshore early in the day

Before the crowds and midday heat arrive, the lakeshore is often at its most peaceful. An early walk combines exercise with quiet Lake Garda scenery and can lead straight back to breakfast at the campsite.

Walking with a dog through olive groves in the western Lake Garda landscape

Explore Valtenesi

Walk through olive groves above the western shore

Around Manerba and Moniga, paths cross the rolling Valtenesi landscape with olive groves and views towards the lake. Outside the hottest part of the day, these routes are a pleasant change from staying around the campsite.

Find your campsite

Look beyond the simple “pets allowed” label

Always check the exact pitch or accommodation type before booking. At some campsites dogs are limited to certain rental units or areas.
