Bardolino combines lakeside camping with a lively town, long waterfront routes and famous wine country in the hills behind the lake. Many local trips work on foot or by bicycle, while the campsite choice ranges from large family resorts to a municipal campsite almost in the centre.
Lake, town and wine country
Bardolino is one of the Lake Garda towns where camping and town life work particularly well together. Several campsites sit directly on the water and beside the walking and cycling routes linking Bardolino with Garda to the north and Cisano and Lazise to the south. This makes it possible to leave the car parked much more often than in many other parts of the lake.
The campsites themselves are very different. La Rocca Camping Village offers the broadest combination of pitches, pools, spray park, sport, spa and rental accommodation. Camping Serenella is also directly on the lake and particularly family oriented. Cisano–San Vito south of the centre focuses on two lagoon pools, slides, a beach and extensive facilities. Camping Continental is more traditional and compact while remaining well positioned for trips into Bardolino.
Camping San Nicolò adds a municipal campsite directly on the lake and especially close to the centre. It is not part of our conversion-focused recommendation block but remains editorially important because it represents a very distinctive Bardolino option.
Why Bardolino
Bardolino is especially suitable for travellers who do not want to choose between classic lakeside holidays, town life and trips into the hinterland.
Several campsites sit directly on the lake and beside the continuous waterfront route. The centre, harbour, beaches and the hamlet of Cisano are therefore particularly easy to reach on foot or by bicycle.
Vineyards and olive groves begin just behind the waterfront. This makes it easy to combine a classic swimming day with a bike ride, walk into the hills or an experience connected with Bardolino wine.
La Rocca and Cisano–San Vito provide extensive holiday infrastructure, while Continental and the municipal Camping San Nicolò focus more strongly on classic camping and proximity to Bardolino.
The old town, harbour, promenade, restaurants and gelaterias are close together. With a well-located campsite, the car can easily remain parked in the evening.

Morning by the water
North of Bardolino, the waterfront route follows the lake directly. It is especially pleasant in the morning, with calm water, views towards the mountains and easy opportunities for coffee or a short swim.
Among the vines
Only a few minutes behind the lake, vineyards and olive groves begin. Several marked routes cross the rolling hinterland and link small hamlets, wineries and viewpoints – a useful contrast to the busier waterfront.
Evening in Bardolino
Bardolino works particularly well in the evening: first along the waterfront, then through the small streets around the harbour and centre. Ice cream, an aperitivo or a late dinner can be combined without moving the car from several local campsites.
Plan well
The exact position between Garda, Bardolino and Cisano largely determines how much of the holiday can genuinely be done on foot or by bicycle.
La Rocca, Serenella, Continental and San Nicolò are north of or close to the centre, while Cisano–San Vito is south towards Lazise. For evening walks and frequent trips on foot, this makes a real difference.
La Rocca and Cisano–San Vito provide extensive infrastructure, pools and family facilities. Travellers who prefer more traditional and compact camping should look more closely at Continental or San Nicolò.
Flat waterfront routes towards Garda and towards Cisano/Lazise make the bicycle one of the most practical ways to get around. An e-bike is useful for trips into the wine hills but not essential.
The Gardesana road can be heavily used in peak season. Campsites with strong walking and cycling connections therefore have a genuine advantage when Bardolino and neighbouring towns are part of the daily plan.

For travellers who want to camp directly on the lake, walk into a lively town in the evening and explore vineyards, waterfront routes and neighbouring villages during the day, Bardolino is an especially balanced base. Large family resorts and more traditional campsites sit unusually close together, making it easy to match the holiday to your preferred style.
