Old town meets family camping
Lazise is one of those places where the camping holiday extends far beyond the campsite. Its fully walled old town, small historic harbour and long waterfront promenade sit directly on the lake and can be reached on foot or by bicycle from several campsites. South of the centre, one of Lake Garda’s largest camping and theme-park zones begins.
The differences between campsites are therefore substantial. Camping Lido combines immediate lakeside access with a large waterpark and highly varied pitch categories. Camping Fossalta feels greener and somewhat quieter while still offering pools, beach and family facilities. Camping Belvedere and Camping Park delle Rose also combine the lake with pools and family-oriented infrastructure.
Piani di Clodia, Camping Spiaggia d’Oro, Camping Village Du Parc, Le Palme Lazise Family Collection and EUROCAMPINGPACENGO add further established properties within the municipality. In Lazise the main question is therefore not whether there is enough campsite choice, but which part of the area and which campsite scale best fit the holiday.
Why Lazise
Few places on Lake Garda combine town life, lake access, family facilities and theme parks as closely as Lazise.
Lazise combines a fully walled historic centre with an old harbour and long waterfront promenade. Depending on the campsite, the town can be reached on foot or by bicycle while the car stays on site.
Waterparks, pools, playgrounds, entertainment and short distances to Gardaland, Movieland and Caneva make Lazise one of Lake Garda's strongest camping bases for families.
North of and close to Lazise, access to the historic centre is often the main advantage. Towards Pacengo, larger holiday resorts and very short distances to the theme parks become more important.
A flat walking and cycling route follows the lake via Cisano to Bardolino. For campers it is one of the easiest ways to link several towns without using a car.

The waterpark with lagoons, slides and family areas, direct beach access plus restaurants, bars, market, sport and entertainment also make the campsite a destination in its own right. This makes Camping Lido suitable both for families and for campers who want to make intensive use of Lazise and the southern eastern shore.

Lazise works particularly well without complicated planning: walk into the old town, cycle beside the lake or spend the evening at the thermal park.
Walk into town
The medieval walls, gates and small old harbour give Lazise a particularly atmospheric feel in the evening. From several campsites, the trip can be combined with a walk along the lake.
Flat by the lake
The route follows the waterfront entirely on walking and cycling paths. Beaches, small harbours and cafés sit directly along the way, making this an easy excursion without a car.
Warm water in the evening
In the hills behind Lazise, Parco Termale del Garda has warm thermal lakes set within a large park. In the evening, it provides an unusual contrast to theme parks, swimming pools and Lake Garda.
Plan well
The exact position between the old town and Pacengo influences the holiday more than the simple distance to the lake.
Travellers who want to walk into the old town in the evening should prioritise campsites north of or directly beside Lazise. For Gardaland, Movieland and Caneva, sites towards Pacengo are often more practical.
Lazise is one of the busier towns on the eastern shore. Campsites with useful waterfront paths, cycling connections or short walking distances to the old town reduce traffic and parking considerably.
Large campsites offer very different pitches, from compact standard plots to large VIP or lakeside categories with more electricity and water connections. The chosen category makes a noticeable difference to comfort.
A campsite close to Gardaland saves considerable time on park days but is not automatically the best location for the old town or Bardolino. Decide which holiday priority matters most before booking.
Our conclusion
Few Lake Garda towns combine an attractive old centre, direct lakeside camping, large resorts and theme parks so closely. Travellers looking for quiet surroundings and very small campsites may prefer the northern eastern shore. For families, first-time visitors and campers who want to combine many activities without long drives, Lazise is one of the lake’s most practical bases.
